Julie Hoffenberg and Sarah Woodward bring you in depth information about yacon syrup. Check us out at www.rawhealingpatch.com (free newsletter sign-up) and http and www.twitter.com
@Boricuaso77789 …cont’d… it is more like maple syrup or agave, so easy for making food, recipes, etc.. and less aftertaste than stevia. it does have a very distinct flavor, though. you can buy at health stores or on web.
@Boricuaso77789 @Boricuaso77789 it tends to be less refined than stevia, higher in minerals, even lower on glycemic scale, and does not seem to have any negative effect on the body so far in whatever has been tested on it. it is not better than stevia, it is different. stevia is concentrated and just a drop or two, or a leave or two, is plenty to sweeten things. agave is more of a syrup and you will need more like a teaspoon or so to sweeten things;
the only negative is that it is still a somewhat processed sugar that ultimately can lead to insulin resistance if overused,etc… the body was not meant to take in large amounts of any concentrated sugars; just good old fashioned fruit
Hi there-
the glycemic index is supposed to be zero. the kinds of sugar in yacon are the sugars that do not spike insulin. what i have read has said that the index is zero, but you are welcome to research further if you have any health concerns or doubts thanks!
I missed hearing Kevin say that. How true! As I’m discovering and working on building community with others in recovery, this is something wonderful to take with me. To feel emotions and connections with others more in stead of using or avoiding food. Thanks!!!
i love yacon syrup, we have it here in the Philippines. A jar of yacon syrup contains half the calories as a same-sized jar of honey and its sugar does not raise blood glucose levels. In addition, oligofructose promotes beneficial bacteria in the colon.
Certain modern health products, such as so-called bio-yogurts, have oligofructose added to achieve the same effect, but yacon already has that quality naturally.
oh great… we will look for the link you sent . thank you. we love to support little companies. oh, i just read the comment below, so anytime you have the video loaded, please send the video. thanks so much! appreciate it.
Hey there!! Loved the info on Yacon! I’ve sent you a video reply that includes the vendor from which I buy my Yacon from the Farmer’s Market. They are a beautiful Peruvian family who supply us with Maca, Yacon & Cacao – raw and organic!! What a blessing!
thanks… it is still expensive here as well. also, we were introduced to jerusalem artichoke syrup, which is not raw but also a nice alternative to sugar and agave. healthier even though it is not raw. it is full of inulin.
yes, i LOVE maca. i LOVE every wouth american plant i can get into my body. maca video to come soon… we ate wild mesquite pods and a special variety of wild acorns that do not need rinsing or peeling at spirit fest. SO fun!
only 3 people recognized us.. so no fan vids. yes, we sometimes make our own kraut and kim chee. we love to ferment. never added apples. maybe one day! thanks again for putting up fliers and promoting us. SO appreciative! we took lots of videos while at spirit fest of other great peeps! more vids soon…xo
Great info, thanks! It’s a shame that here in Norway the yacon syrup is extremely expensive. But I guess it will change when more people buy it and it’s more of a common thing. Not many have heard of this in this country. The raw food/alternative community is still very small.
I love the love theory. You do know though that every video you two give us is a daily dose of LOVE! Ps. MACA, oh my, that use to be one of my essential superfoods.. that and raw hemp seeds… I was also using mesquite mod…back in my superfood days. I wonder if you might consider doing a video on MACA? many people are unaware of it.
Owls on your shirt, how cute!!! Yacon – good topic. I use to use it but don’t anymore, only raw honey… when need be. Julie, crap lady you are a nutritional encyclopedia. I love it.
Do you two make your own kim chee and kraut? My friend makes kraut and adds apples and loves it. Have fun on your trip. I got your mail today at my doorstep, thank you so much. I sent you a video! Please record any fan videos from YT fans!!! I bet it’s going to be HOT over there, omg, heat wave. Stay hydrated.
