So I boiled up a batch of the Dreamfields Penne Pasta, the “healthy carb living” its supposed to be low glycemic. I then sauteed some onions in a frying pan and then tossed in a half a jar of the Classico Roasted Garlic Alfredo. Once that was hot, I combined everything and I thought it would taste great, but it doesn’t. I used a little grapola grape seed oil when satueeing the onions. Where did I go wrong? What ingredient is the least recommended. It just tastes flat and wierd. I expected some flavor.

Sure, it’s low carb and low on the glycemic index, but you know what else??? It’s also low flavor……..You didn’t do anything wrong, per se, but trying to make a low carb pasta is like trying to make a low cal, low carb, low fat Krispy Kreme Donut……..Almost impossible…..I’ve tried several brands, and didn’t like any of them…..so, now when I want pasta, I do more veggies in it and less pasta……Enjoy!!

Lo carb and whole wheat pastas do not have the same texture or taste of seminola pasta. They are an aquired taste. If you really must have lower carb pasta I would mix it with some “regular” pasta of the same type. Make sure your sauce has a fairly intense flavor, add more vegetables to the sauce and serve smaller portions of the pasta. Personally, if I want pasta I use a good brand of regular pasta and a good sauce, enjoy the meal and return to my low carb ways the next meal, day, week etc. Also, make the remainder of your meal low carb and it helps to balance out the pasta.
