Hello,
I have been trying to avoid high GI foods from my diet and the other day I saw a food with a GI listed and then it said *when tested on diabetics. I know that glycemic response varies from person to person, but in general, do diabetics have a lower GI response?
Thanks,
Cana

well duh. Think about it, diabetics either don’t produce or cannot use their body’s insulin, thus foods high on the glycemic index are poorly metabolized.

glycemic level is refered as a RANGE -80 TO120 with in this limits too many people fall —for diabetics, the glycemicvalue is also with in tlimits with diabetic drugs

Our bodies respond differently to foods with a higher glycemic level than non diabetics….our bodies respond to food differently….period. We need to eat foods that have lower glycemic levels. Most of us just count carbs, it is much easier. I get nervous when I read or hear anyone says certain foods were tested on diabetics. So many times it is some sort of baloney.

Diabetics tend to have a higher GI response. They have low, irregular,(Type I) or are completely resistant (Type II) to insulin. Eating High GI foods cause a high glucose spike & it is more difficult for diabetics to go back to normal levels due to lack of insulin.
Non-diabetics will restore homeostasis postprandial with insulin. Insulin helps your body tissues take up glucose from the blood stream and store it as glycogen in the liver or muscle.

    Diabetics aren’t unhealthy.
