If you’re looking for some natural dog food recipes or homemade dog food, this recipe from the Natural Pet Food Cookbook is a great start. Chef Jason Hill of Chef Tips puts Bandit’s Beef Stew to the test, and this dog food recipe was approved with enthusiasm by his family’s Shih Tzu puppy, Sugar. This recipe can be prepared as an organic dog food with the right ingredients. Just choose canned organic vegetables when preparing this meal. It’s also a human grade dog food, as Chef Jason Hill attests — and not bad, either! Using natural organic dog food ingredients, this special treat makes a great alternative to dry dog food such as Nutro Dog Food, Innova Dog Food, Canidae Dog Food and Pedigree Dog Food. It’s a gourmet dog food your pet will enjoy time and time again. Bone Appetit!

@nikkicatdoll Thanks… We just made this recipe for a little treat. People get way too freaky about something that’s meant for fun. I agree with you completely.

@ChefTips No offense. But why the hell would people make “recipes” for their dogs. No dog food is healthier than Raw meat and bones. So i don’t really see the point in messing around buying dog food or making balanced recipes.

Dogs with a “balanced diet” of dog food will still be no way near as healthy as dogs who eat the real thing, no offense. That’s just how i see it. Why bother

This is a great recipe. I have been trying to feed my border collie more homemade food. I don’t agree with all the people who are so paranoid about what there dogs are eating at all. My dog is super healthy and I give her my leftovers almost everyday. She is lean , has a shiny coat and no health problems. She even has had her fair share of chocolate. ….. o:)

@meucci42 I’m not suggesting this for a daily diet. It’s meant to be a treat.

I ran this by my vet… he was appalled. This would be OK for a treat maybe once a month, but not for a daily healthy diet. Not even close.

A home based diet for dogs must be tested on nutrients and minerals to make sure they get what is needed to develop or maintain bone structure, skin, coat, vision….too much or too less will create an impact on the dogs life and health

@ChefTips It was her 1st birthday in september last year. She is still alive and has not had another seizure since. Some dogs are imunne to stuff, my other dog Amber is not lactose intolerant like most dogs. But I do like this recipe and made it this morning for my 3 dogs they loved it i just didn’t use the yeast and corn :) corn can make dogs have runny poop.

I don’t know what to say here.
Could it be that Sandy just had seizures because she was old on her last birthday?
