I am not a doctor nor am I a nutritionist. Ask your doctor and nutritionists about any new food you want to try. Fast acting carbs have a high glycemic index. These foods spike your insulin leves. Examples includes: sugar, white bread and white pasta. Avoid these foods as much as possible. Slow acting carbs that have a low glycemic index should be consumed in small quantities if you desire energy for exercising. Oatmeal, brown rice, 100% whole grains some beans and legumes.

hey I left a comment but don’t see it- this is an awesome video- I am a huge believer in South Beach approach- overall- and NO to White foods- flour, sugar, rice, potatoes etc… I detoxed from carb addiction years back wth SB- sooo- do you eat Quinoa???

@maryposa1978 Thanks for your input Mary. Veggies are a source of complex carbs. Fruit also are a source of carbs/sugars in the form of fructose. A cup of blueberries has about 20 grams of carbs. One cup of yummy cherry tomatoes has 6 grams of carbs. Even milk has 13 grams of carbs in 8 oz.. I never said not low carb., Just when you eat them you should know the different effects it can have on your insulin levels. CNN.com published a paper yesterday on the health benefits of brown rice.

PS I work out 1-2 hours a day and have friends on lowcarbfriends message boards who are at goal that run marathons on a low carb diet consisting of veggies and certain limited fruits (like berries and tomatoes) but a base of meat and fat and feel just GREAT :D

I plan to live a mostly grain free life lol. I do not agree that you need carbohydrates. There are cultures the world over that have existed for centruries on nearly zero carbohydrate diets such as the Masaii, Inuit, and laplanders. Ketones are a perfectly acceptable substitute for glucose. However, I do agree that low GI carbs are a different animal from the high GI ones. :)

Good Job on this vid,… I like what you said about how it doesn’t matter how much you eat compared to what someone else should be eating,… this is so true!

Once I have a house and my furniture back I’ll do a vid on the move and how my weight is going!! :)

@yalg22 I usually stick to unjury’s chicken soup protein, but I had one once at the gym with peanut butter and banana, and it was awesome! I freakin’ love matzoh balls, but they are one of my binge foods, on a fork right out of the fridge… :p So good, but sooo bad! LOL

@freshorangina Matzoh ball soup is da bomb. I couldn’t eat it this past year. I also love bananas. I just finished working out, and I have half a banana in my protein drink.

I had the worst time my first post-op pesach with dumping from matzoh balls!! I am not as sensitive to carbs now as I was in the beginning, but I still have to be careful and zonk out every once in a while if I have stuff like pasta. I like to have a banana before I work out in the morning. Fantastic and very helpful video! :)
