They should call this product Beanitos Bean Chip Fragments not Bean Chips. I received the package from Amazon packed well. There was an inner and outer box. The inner box had zero signs of damage. The packages on the outside all looked fine. Inside though there was literally in 2 boxes not a single whole chip. EVERY chip was fragmented, mostly to very small ‘chiplets’ or fragments. In the other bags there was maybe 5% to 10% whole chips. So it was systemic failure.

The fragments made enjoying them with salsa or making nachos almost impossible and very messy. You ended up getting as much salsa on your finger as you did on a fragment because they were so small. I also took off a star because my wife wrote an email to them explaning she wanted to support local products as we live in Austin, she enjoyed the taste, but wanted to point out our experience. They didn’t even write back. Not good.

As for the taste we were very pleasantly surprised. If you like black beans, because make no mistake you do get a black bean flavor you will really enjoy these. I also liked some of the other nutritional benefits of these. BTW I was at an Austin festival yesterday and they had both flavors to sample. The other flavor tastes even better.

Please take this review for what it is worth. I have tried to note why I am taking stars off. Perhaps it was JUST my experience. But I also want to point out I had a nine pack. Every bag had this problem. Also no signs of damage. It is perhaps a sign that given NORMAL transporting, Beanitos came up with a product that can not survive the transport process. Beanitos I would address the fragment problem if I were you. It would also be nice if you replied to emails sent to you.

As a low carb girl I thought these were going to be the snack I was missing. They are OK for a couple of bites, but more than 2-3 chips and you might want to quarentine yourself…or at least tie a string to your foot so you don’t float away!!!

Tastes good, would like to see a fat free or lower fat version. Half the calories are from fat, and some of it’s saturated. Baked version please! But it’s far better for you than regular chips I think.

If it was baked, it’d be great!

This is a crunchy snack with pretty good flavor. I have eaten by themselves and with salsa. Yummy!
